our history
Family owned and operated since 1915, Gladhill Furniture has offered superlative customer service, quality and value to area families. More than ninety years ago, Calvin T. K. and Lola Gladhill began selling furniture, cook stoves, aluminum ware, jewelry, buggies, wagons and carriages in Myersville, Maryland.

In 1916, the Gladhills moved their business to the store's present location at 10 Walnut Street in Middletown. The store was housed in the former Schlosser Tannery building, which was razed when the present structure was built in 1929. During the 1920's, the Gladhills employed local cabinet makers to fashion custom, colonial furniture in solid walnut and cherry woods - these pieces can still be found in some of the finest homes in Frederick County.

Over the years, what was once a modest furniture shop with three employees and a horse-drawn wagon for furniture delivery, has become a five story show room featuring well over thirty of the nation's most respected furniture brands. To this day, the Design Consultants at Gladhill Furniture have never lost their commitment to providing customers with quality furniture and great customer service at the area's guaranteed lowest prices.
